Future of Rotary

Hi all let me introduce you all to

Nitesh Joshi

Chair of the Board Rotary GB&I

Below is a copy of a recent email he sent to me as your president therefore I wish to share his thoughts on the future of Rotary

Dear Club President Nigel,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Nitesh Joshi, and I am the Chair of the Regional Rotary GB&I Board for 2024/25.

I am writing to extend a heartfelt thank you and congratulations on taking up your role as President of your Rotary club. Your leadership and dedication are crucial to the success of our organisation, and I am confident that with your guidance, we will achieve great things this year.

Our North Star

As we embark on this journey together, I ask for your support in helping us achieve our North Star project, a vital initiative aimed at guiding our clubs towards greater innovation, growth, and sustainability. The North Star project serves as our strategic compass, helping us navigate the challenges of today and prepare for the opportunities of tomorrow.

Our ambitious goal is to achieve 60,000 members by 2028. By aligning our efforts with this initiative, we can ensure that Rotary GB&I continues to thrive and make a significant impact for many years to come.

One of the most important ways you can contribute to the success of the North Star project is by actively growing your club. Encouraging new members to join and engaging existing members in meaningful ways will help us build a vibrant and diverse Rotary community.

A thriving club is one that is inclusive, dynamic, and committed to making a difference. Where growing your own club may be challenging you could consider using your local community knowledge to help your District Team set up a satellite or new club in the area.

As of last year Rotary GB&I announced four membership channels through which potential new members can join: Club, Corporate, Direct and Enterprise.

Club, Corporate and Direct Membership is readily available for you to embrace now. These options provide flexibility and cater to different interests and professional backgrounds, making it easier for people to find their place in Rotary.

Whether a local business in your community or a larger company aiming to fulfil its environmental and social responsibilities that wants to join Rotary – the answer is yes, (subject to our normal checks and measures). I recall a member of my club walking down the high street calling into every shop and business to chat about Rotary.

Let’s welcome businesses to the world of Rotary

Your efforts are essential to our vision

Your District Governor has already initiated much work in this direction, setting a strong foundation for our collective efforts. Their leadership and vision are paving the way for innovation and growth within our districts. To support you in your role, you can always rely on the resources and guidance provided by your District Governor, Rotary GB&I, Specialist Adviser Teams, and the entire network of DGs and districts all ready and eager to work with you, ensuring you have the support and tools needed to succeed.

May I take this opportunity to encourage you to visit our Rotary GB&I Members Area, where you will find a wealth of toolkits and resources designed to help you in your role. These materials cover everything from membership growth strategies to project planning and can be invaluable in helping you lead your club effectively.

I would also encourage you to read the latest Rotary Magazine, also available in Digital form, which contains a range of articles on North Star and our four membership channels.

We are all working to making Rotary GB&I a diverse, vibrant, and fun membership organisation for many years to come. Your efforts in growing and strengthening your club are essential to achieving this vision. Together, we can and will create a Rotary that is welcoming, dynamic, and impactful.

Thank you once again for your commitment and leadership.

I look forward to seeing the amazing work you and your clubs will accomplish this year.

Best wishes,

Nitesh Joshi
